Julia Witte studied Energy and Process Technology at the Technical University of Berlin, with a focus on Modelling, Thermodynamics and Thermal Process Engineering. During an exchange in Zurich, she did her master thesis at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ) in the field of Sustainable Process Design and Life Cycle Assessment. There, she developed a sustainable route of lactic acid production from waste. With the gained knowledge she participated in a project with BASF and ETHZ for improving the value chains of BASF in accordance with the cradle-to-cradle concept.
Currently Julia Witte is working at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) as doctoral student in association with the ETHZ. Her research field includes the production of substitute natural gas (SNG) from biomass via catalytic methanation, where she applies methods of process design development, rigorous modelling of reactor concepts as well as whole process chains, as well as reaction engineering.
