A Chartered Mechanical Engineer, David started his career in the Aerospace and Defence Sector in 2000 with BAE Systems. After roles on Eurofighter Typhoon, F-35 and the Airbus A400M Programme he left in 2008 to join the Energy Sector. He worked with engineering consultancy Atkins from 2008 to 2014, culminating in a role of Director, Power and Renewables. During his time with Atkins, David attained an MBA, with the Sloan Fellows Programme in Innovation and Global Leadership, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
In August 2014, David joined National Grid as Director, Network Strategy, Gas Distribution and is responsible for engineering leadership of the four Gas Distribution Networks owned and operated by National Grid. Across the four networks National Grid have approximately 134,000km of pipeline at a range of pressure tiers transporting gas to 10 million consumers. Specifically, David’s team are responsible for Engineering Policy, Network Integrity, Network Design, Control Room Operations and Network Investment and Innovation.
David is married, with two young daughters and lives in Stratford upon Avon.
